Citazione di: manappalli il 02 Febbraio 2013, 13:26:12I have Dlink DIR456U wireless routers at 5 locations. All routers date expired on 31-12-2012.

I don't understand what you mean. A 3G router hasn't any expiration date. Probably it may refers to SIM expiration date so you have to handle this stuff with your 3G SIM local provider.

Did you contact your local D-Link to have a new firmware update as suggested previously?

hi, i'm back again after this absence my modem/router  has dead for long time, and it came back again to life  an unexplained raison , whitout doing anything just trying to use it , on day in june it has revived suddently without doing anything. but now i have moded it for transmitting more coverage for wifi just taking an old router with detachable antenna and mounting it on my dir 456U. illustration be in next post

rafik23

hi
in this post i moded my dir 456U with external wifi antenna restored from an old adsl router what have an external antenna 5dBm for incresing wifi field in my home

1- make un hole in down chassis of my dlink for mounting external antenna
2- unsold the coaxial cable from internal antenna ( disconnecting intenal antenna) for increasing gain for external antenna

1- make un hole in down chassis of my dlink for mounting external antenna must be spacious for antenna and power (like i do it)

2- unsold the coaxial cable from internal antenna ( disconnecting internal antenna just an axial point ) for increasing gain for external antenna and solder it to external axial point coaxial cable.

and its all , it must be more wireless coverage
 good luck

Citazione di: Pondera il 28 Gennaio 2013, 13:35:06The old ftp Middle East & North Africa site link:

ftp://ftp.dlink-me.com/DLink_ME/DIR/DIR-456u/

now has been replaced by:

ftp://dlinkmea.com/ftp/DIR-456U/

but there isn't any firmware file to download.

You can report this lack to your local D-Link:

http://www.dlinkmea.com/contactus/feedback/

http://www.dlinkmea.com/corporate/contact/

http://www.facebook.com/DlinkEgypt

and also to:

We hope rafik23 has a firmware backup so we can upload it in our forum for everyone it need. And also if you receive a firmware file from your local D-Link.

Can I flash this firmware completely through the programmer?

Updated & revised all links in the 1st post of this thread.
Now we have available again all DIR-456U revision A1 firmware version from D-Link:

DIR-456U A1 1.02 build 06 (direct link from D-Link Technical Support Downloads Taiwan)

Can anyone have a full dump of flash memory for firmware with a programmer?

Pondera

Which model/type of programmer?
Why do you need a programmer? Maybe is your router bricked?

I give it to a service center where they can flash the chip with a programmer.
I connected via UART, the router hangs on boot U-Boot, and after the reboot nothing changes. It is impossible to forgive him through other regimes. There is a suspicion that there is a problem with U-Boot, and you need a firmware from U-Boot to flash it through the programmer.

DIR-456U A1 SoC is Ralink RT3050F (MediaTek) just like DIR-300/600 Bx.
Usually U-Boot performs switch to Recovery Mode on flash content integrity fail. But it's better to have a serial log to understand what happened.
Have you tried to enter in Recovery Mode via emergency HTTP web interface?

I tried it, it does not come in, since the connection does not rise. The router, when turned on, hangs on the line(when connected and viewed through UART):
U-Boot 1.1.3 (Jan 12 2011 - 19:40:43) (ALPHA)
SVN revision: 480
Target board: WHD-RV01

while the power indicator and the globe are on on the router. When the LAN cable is connected to the LAN port, the indication does not light up.

Is it possible to flash through the programmer the firmware from the DIR-300 router rev.B3 (judging by the data they have identical CPU/RAM/Flash) in order to restore the U-Boot in this way and then flash through the uart the normal firmware for this router?

Pondera

Why your device is bricked in this way? Have you failed to upgrade a firmware?

I think it's better to use DIR-456U A1 original D-Link firmwares.

DIR-300/600 Bx is supported by both OpenWrt & DD-WRT!
Added in the previous post DD-WRT Wiki and U-Boot Reference Manual links in addition to OpenWrt Wiki already present.
U-Boot has a command shell (also called a monitor) in which you work with U-Boot commands to create a customized boot process. Maybe there is something usefull to solve this case...
